On your marks, get set… go! A few quick ‘uns today

  • Hitwise, which we all know started in Australia, is being sold for $240 million to Experian.
  • Speaking of measurement, the NYT had a story that Nielsen//NetRatings is going to rank sites by time spent, rather than page impressions. No official word on either the NetRatings US site, or the AU site though, so at this stage it’s unconfirmed.
  • BlueFreeway announced today it is buying 51% stakes in three more Australian digital agencies - Digicon, JSA Digital and Internet Business Corporation. PDF of ASX announcement here, B&T article here. Last week BlueFreeway bought US analytics company SageMetrics (PDF here).
  • The new chairman of Hyro, Rob Clarke, says on the whole in Australia agencies are dialling up their digital creative efforts while not having the tech capabilities needed to really make them sign. I agree. (Disclosure: I have a few Hyro shares)
  • Just another example of an interesting maps mashup (this one uses Google Maps) - Who is Sick - lets you plot your location and your symptons, and browse by same.
  • CNN.com has a look at 5 players trying to build the killer video on demand app - article here.
  • I’ve added the Twitter badge to the right  hand side of the blog here —> It’s a gimmick, i know, and if it slows down the load I’ll drop it.
